Artist and photographers were invited to submit artwork that represented a particular mile on the marathon route with the winning entrants being featured at the mile they chose to represent.
Mile 4 Winner is none other than Prince Charles praised artist Gavin Mayhew
This is the image that was chosen to be massively enlarged at ‘mile 4’ (near the Deep, which this image depicts) on the Hull Marathon Route as ‘road art’ (whatever that means).
Name of the piece: ‘The Mysterious Deep’ – by Gavin Mayhew
Medium: Oils on canvas board, A1 size.
Having entered the competition artist Gavin Mayhew was chosen for the “Mile 4 Art installation”.
The decision was made by a panel of judges that included:
- Rosie Millard – Chair of Hull UK City of Culture 2017
- Peter Naylor – Curator of the marathon exhibition
- Lucas Meagor – Race Director
- Representatives of Principal Sponsor RB, Main Sponsor Hull College and Fun Run organisers Fitmums & Friends.
His winning piece will be featured at this years Hull Marathon 2017
It will then be made into postcards and prints then exhibited at the Hull College Art gallery.
